Benefits of Open Standards

The Object Management Group (OMG) is the authority for open standards in the software industry. OMG is an open membership, not-for-profit consortium that produces and maintains computer industry specifications for interoperable enterprise applications. OMG’s members include virtually every large company in the computer industry, and hundreds of smaller ones.

OMG’s flagship specification is the multi-platform Model Driven Architecture (MDA) including: Unified Modeling Language (UML™), the ubiquitous modeling notation used and supported by every major company in the software industry; XML Metadata Interchange (XMI™), the standard for storing and exchanging models using XML; and CORBA™, the most popular open middleware standard.

Open software standards, including J2SE, J2EE, CORBA, and MDA lower integration and customization costs. Instead of writing code in a specific programming language, IT staff can model their business blueprints with UML and transform them into a platform independent, flexible, and scalable application.

CRIXP’s 100 percent commitment to open standards drastically lowers the total cost of ownership (TCO) of our solutions.
