Benefits of Open Source Software

openCRX and openMDX are both Open Source software, i.e. they are free, you have access to the source code, and you have a non-restrictive BSD-style license to use them.

The limited openCRX marketing budget (capped at EUR 0.—) is very beneficial to our existing customers as they do not have to contribute to the acquisition of new customers.

All of the above provides you with many benefits:

• Safety: with open source, you are not held hostage by a vendor's agenda. A non-restrictive license gives you the power to use and change the software to meet your business needs. The license of openCRX and the license of openMDX are particularly generous so that there are virtually no limitations to use the software even in a commercial context.
• Security: peer review ensures better security auditing. Security concerns can be detected before problems occur when the source is available.
• Quality: massive testing, peer review and community contributions ensure better software quality. When problems are found fixes quick to appear and easy to apply.
• Extensibility: open integration, the availability of the source and a non-restrictive license allow you to easily adapt the software to fit your needs.
• Interoperability: open standards are simply the name of the game - proprietary standards of various commercial products make itusually very expensive (if not impossible) to integrate third-party products.
